SPORTROM, an initiative promoted by the association Kodokan and implemented by the Naples Provincial Office, in collaboration with the Home Affaire Ministry and the Naples Prefect’s Office, has been presented in Palazzo Matteotti. The aim is to organise sport activities for ROM children and to promote social and cultural integration through sport. The project includes sport activities four days a week in the location of the Kodokan Association, at the Albergo dei Poveri, in Piazza Carlo III in Naples. The addressees of this project are a maximum of 40 children attending elementary school aged 6-12, divided into two groups, each entrusted to an aid worker and to a cultural/relational mediator. The children will be collected from and taken back to their residence camp by bus, accompanied by an association worker.
For Isadora D’Aimmo, Councillor for Peace, Immigration and International Coperation, this initiative is part of a larger plan promoted by the Prefect Alessandro Pansa, emergency Commissioner responsible for Roms, and it supports other projects aiming at ensuring security and legalise Rom settlements. They are initiatives to provide new opportunities for integration and growth for young roms.
